Need Your Spa or Hot Tub hooked Up?
WIREWORKS ELECTRICAL SERVICES LTD
Spa & Hot Tub Electrical Hook-Up Specialists
Spa & Hot Tub Hook Up for private use is not a complicated set up for most homes. For proper installation and hook up these are the 4 things to remember:
Your installers will require access to the backyard
You will need a solid and level place to set the hot tub or spa
Proper electrical setup to run your new toy
Lastly, a garden hose in close proximity to fill it up when installation is completed.
In most cases, a building permit is required for a hot tub & spa's with depths greater than 600 mm. On top of the permit, your city may require a site plan indicating the proposed location along with other bits of information such as fencing and/or lockable covers.
Note: Fencing is not always required when the hot tub has a lockable cover that can support the weight of an adult.
An electrical permit will be required for any wiring associated with the hot tub & spa installation. Hot tubs either require 110V or 220V of electricity. If you have a 110V model then you may be able to simply plug the spa into an electrical outlet in the backyard. However, if you have a 220V model, then you will need to work with a certified electrician. Your electrician will need to ensure 2 things. First that there is enough electricity to power the hot tub and second, run the appropriate wires from your electrical panel to the hot tub.
